Cookie Policy
1. About this policy
This Cookie Policy explains how Student Body (studentbody.pt, app.studentbody.pt, and the Student Body mobile apps — the “Service”) uses cookies and similar technologies (local storage, SDKs, pixels). It sits alongside our Privacy Policy.
2. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website; similar technologies (such as browser local storage and mobile SDKs) work the same way. They let the Service work, keep it secure, remember your choices, and — only with your consent — help us understand usage.
3. The categories we use
- Strictly necessary — always on; no consent required. They keep you signed in, keep the Service secure, balance load, and remember your cookie choice. The Service can’t function without them.
- Error monitoring — Sentry, hosted in the EU data region, runs to keep the Service stable and secure. It is configured to collect no IP address or personal identifiers and is treated as strictly necessary.
- Analytics — PostHog, hosted in the EU, helps us understand usage. It runs only after you accept via our cookie banner and sets nothing before then. You can accept, reject, or change your choice at any time.
- No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. We don’t run ads, sell your data, or track you across other sites.
4. Cookies we set
| Category | Examples / provider | Consent | Typical duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Session & auth (Supabase), security, cookie-choice record | Not required | Session / up to 12 months |
| Error monitoring | Sentry (EU, no PII) | Not required (no PII) | Session |
| Analytics | PostHog (EU) | Required (opt-in) | Up to 12 months |
5. Third-party cookies
Some cookies or storage may be set by third-party services we use — for example our payment processor (Stripe) on payment screens, media/CDN providers, and maps. These are governed by those providers’ own policies; our sub-processors are listed in the Privacy Policy.
6. Managing your choices
- Use Cookie preferences in the Service to accept, reject, or change non-essential cookies at any time.
- You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking strictly-necessary cookies may stop parts of the Service from working.
7. Consent & legal basis
Strictly-necessary cookies rely on our legitimate interest in providing a secure, working Service. Non-essential cookies (analytics) are set only with your consent under the ePrivacy rules and Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR; you can withdraw consent at any time via Cookie preferences.
8. Changes
We may update this policy as our cookie use changes. The current version is always the one published here, with the “last updated” date above.
